I like to read and occasionally I will add books to my list. A short review may also be added that will be my own opinion of the work and nothing more. I will also add a link to the book page on Amazon or other site where you can read more about the work or purchase it if you choose.
The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America's Future written by Jonathan Cahn
If you want a book that will challenge your Bible knowledge and make you give serious thought to world events over the last 15 years then this book is for you. Cahn makes a case for the connection between ancient Israel (Judah) and current America through the comparison of decisions made and warnings or harbingers received and ultimately ignored. I certainly do not want to give away the story the comparisons and detailed documentation that is used in the narrative is uncanny and hard to deny. This work is well worth the time to read, to absorb and to reread for content.
Daring Greatly written by Brene Brown.
This work is written by a 'researcher' that examines the sources and effects of shame, guilt and forgiveness in our lives and how vulnerability plays into all of it. It has been enlightening to me to realize that we all deal with shame and do so in many different ways.

A clear description of the epic story of the Bible and how it all connects to the salvation work of Jesus Christ. Dr. Richter divides the text into five covenant promises giving historical, social and religious background to help explain the situations depicted in the Bible as a whole. She offers multiple possibilities that have been put forth by scholars over the centuries as well as her own ideas for the reader to consider.
A Confident Heart: How to Stop Doubting Yourself and Live in the Security of God's Promises

This book is written from the heart of a women's ministry leader that relates her struggles with self-doubt that began in her childhood. Renee connects the issues she has dealt with in her life to the ongoing battles in her adult life as a wife, mother and ministry leader and speaker.
I found the book easy to read and could identify with some of the feelings of doubt and unworthiness. It was helpful in identifying the sources of some of the feelings I have had and what I have allowed to hold me back in life.
To Heaven and Back: A Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life Again: A True Story written by Dr. Mary Neal
Written in a narrative form, Dr. Neal shares the background and the story of her drowning death from a kayak accident. Much description is given to the events of and during her death as well as her return to earth and her life since that time. The overwhelming effect this experience has had on Dr. Neal and her family is heart warming and wrenching at the same time. The nature of humans is to question such reports yet they have clung tightly to the truth living each day fully in the knowledge of a very real God with a very existent eternal heavenly home.
